Toshiba Enhances SoftIPT Softphone, Now Enabling More Simultaneous Calls and Echo Cancellation for Windows Vista
Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division today announced the availability of its newly enhanced Toshiba SoftIPT® softphone (Version 2.2), which enables users to access their desktop telephone features via their laptop computers by connecting to the enterprise’s Toshiba Strata® CIX™ IP business communications system through 802.11 wireless networks or virtually anywhere there is Internet access. The new SoftIPT 2.2 now supports the G729a codec for PCs only, which allows for more simultaneous calls and also supports acoustic echo cancellation on Microsoft® Windows Vista® on an Intel-based platform. The new acoustic echo canceller allows users to use their PCs’ built-in microphones.
